Amberjack Season and Blackfin Tuna

Posted on May 19th, 2019 by admin

2019 Amberjack Season opens August 1st and ends October 31st. This year, Gulf anglers will have 92 days to fish for Amberjack in Federal waters.

If you are interested in a late summer fishing vacation, August through October is a great time to fish the waters off Port Aransas.
With Summer crowds winding down the fishing is still on fire with a variety of species to target that will fill your freezer.

Our usual Summer catches include Red Snapper, Mahi, Wahoo, Marlin and Sailfish, as well as other species like Ling, Kingfish and Shark.
Starting in August we get to add a couple more to our list. Amberjack and Tuna.

Amberjack are hard fighting fish, sometimes referred to as “Reef Donkeys” because of their pulling power. If a big fish is on your bucket list, the Amberjack will put you to the test. The bag limit is 1 per person with a 34 in minimum fork length.

Shrimp boatsĀ  dragging their nets in 200-300 ft of water become floating buffet tables for Bonita and Blackfin Tuna. This hands-on style of fishing is fast and action packed! There are no size or bag limits with Blackfin so we can catch them until your arms fall off!

If you’re looking for a meat haul, late summer is a good time to make that happen. We have plenty of openings for August through October. Give us a call to set up the trip of a lifetime!
